If you decide to stay in Luzern for your ski holiday in Central Switzerland, you`ll be able to get from Luzern to Engelberg long before the first cable car ascends toward Mount Titlis for fresh powder in the morning and have plenty of time to finish your aprés ski beers in the village before returning back to the city in the evening.

Trains from Lucerne-Luzern to Engelberg

Trains from Lucerne to Engelberg run all day every day from the Luzern bahnhof.

There are train departures from Luzern to Engelberg starting before 6AM, with return trains from Engelberg to Lucerne until after 11PM.

 

IR & S4 Trains between Luzern & Engelberg

Take the IR train (Intereggio) or S4 train on track 14 or 15 departing from Luzern to Engelberg daily.

The IR train departs hourly at xx:06 with a total 1-way trip time of 47 minutes.

S4 trains from Luzern to Engelberg depart hourly at xx:06, xx:11 & xx:41. The S4 makes a few extra stops along the way, but the ride is still quick, smooth as silk and so clean you could eat off the floor (you might not want to try that).

The first train from Lucerne to Engelberg leaves at 5:01 am and takes 52 minutes.

The last train from Luzern to Engelberg is an S4 that departs at 23:41 ( 11:41pm ). You`ll be required to change at Dallenwill to take a bus for the remaining 20 minutes of the journey.

*There`s only 1-track in and 1-track out on the rail line between Luzern and Engelberg, so if you get off at the wrong station, just wait for the next train because all lines terminate at either Engelberg or Lucerne.
