Powder Mountain, Utah, USA

Utah claims the lightest, driest snow on the planet. It`s a claim that`s hard to dispute.

World famous ski destinations like Alta, Park City and Snowbird witness some of the most consistent light, dry, yearly snowfall totals anywhere.

Powder Mountain Ski Area near Ogden, Utah — located around 45 minutes North of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front — gets a lot less media attention, a lot less crowds than its well-known northerly neighbors, but definitely not less snow.

Powder Mountain…can you think of a better name for a ski area that receives 500 inches / 13 meters of annual snowfall?

Shredshot Story

The light was less than ideal and the snow conditions by Utah standards were less than perfect. But a friendly welcome from Powder Mountain to shoot some advertising photos isn`t something to pass up, so we made the short drive from SLC to see if this lesser known ski area could live up to its name.

Late-April…untouched freshies everywhere…barely another rider to be seen…and facehsots all day. Not bad for an ” average snow day” at Powder Mountain.
