Stoos-Morschach, Switzerland

Stoos is a Central Swiss ski area above Lake Luzern near the cantonal capital city of Schwyz. This small-to-mid-size resort has a lot of appeal for skiers, snowboarders and winter leisure tourists of all types. Pistes are long, wide, well-groomed and get soaked with sunshine. There aren`t many lifts cluttering the mountain and off-piste zones are very accessible directly off the chairs. Mountain restaurants are excellent, the vibe is generally friendly and crowds are minimal during the week.

Sunshine. Fun terrain. Nice people. Stoos. Sweet.

ShredStory

It was nearing the end of the season and we`d just received another fresh dump of snow in the Lake Luzern high-country. Instead of standing in crowded lift queues to access the Titlis Glacier above Engelberg, I drove in the opposite direction around the lake to the empty slopes of Stoos.

I approached a few ski school Instructors and asked them if they`d like to take some shots for a ski area review of the resort. They kindly obliged and we spent the next 1.5 hours capturing pow sprays and speedy carves. It was actually only 1 hour…the other 30 minutes were spent enjoying a beer under the sunshine. Tough day at the office.

Here`s Swiss Snowsports School Stoos ski instructor, Jacqueline Beutler, spraying pow in red against the blues & whites of a magical Central Swiss Alps backdrop. Thanks to Stoos Ski School Director, Conny, and instructors, Jackie & Melvin, for making what began as a pretty boring day shooting inanimate objects on the ski hill so much cooler & action-packed in the end.
